2017 Wildlife Photo Contest

Golden Eagle, Stories Beach, Port Hardy, BC, Canada
Content Torpidity

Species: Golden Eagle | Location: Stories Beach, Port Hardy, BC, Canada

I was out for a stroll when I encountered a rather torpid Golden Eagle. He didn't seem even remotely threatened by my presence of the presence of others walking their large dogs within a stone's throw of him. Upon walking further down the beach I discovered a plausible cause for its torpidity. A large sea lion carcass had washed up just a hundred yards down the beach and looked to have been picked clean by the birds of the area.

About The Photographer

Cropped gopr0063 2
I do the majority of my work on the northern tip of Vancouver Island in British Columbia, focusing mostly on landscapes and wildlife, but also dabble in long daytime exposures and astrophotography. Main areas include Holberg, Winter Harbour, Port Hardy, Port McNeil, Port Alice, and much of the wilderness surrounding these communities.
