Ursus arctos/Brown Bear, Brooks Falls, Katmai National Park, Alaska, United States of America
Munchin'

Species: Ursus arctos/Brown Bear | Location: Brooks Falls, Katmai National Park, Alaska, United States of America

Brown Bear 480 "Otis" munches on a sockeye salmon at Brooks Falls in Katmai National Park, Alaska. A favorite of both brown bear cam watchers and Brooks Falls visitors, at more than 20-years old, Otis is the granddaddy of the falls. He's missing a couple of his canine teeth, which brown bears use to strip the prized, high calorie skin from salmon in an effort to gain enough weight to live through the long winter and spring, until the salmon return to Brooks River and the falls once again. His lack of teeth didn't seem to hold him back though, as he caught and ate salmon after salmon after salmon.
