2017 Wildlife Photo Contest

Red Fox, Big Sky, Montana, United States of America
Fox at Sunrise

Species: Red Fox | Location: Big Sky, Montana, United States of America

Every once in a while, if you stay in one place long enough, something incredible happens! So, there I was, laying on the ice attempting to capture Lone Mountain in Big Sky, MT receiving it’s good morning kiss from the sun, when this lovely Red Fox decides to pay me a visit! She hung out with me for 20 minutes or so, but when she realized that this photographer does not feed wildlife, she ambled off in search of another source for breakfast!

You know that moment when you turn a corner on a trail and a view appears that literally takes your breath away and brings a tear to your eye at the unfathomable beauty of it all? That is why I take pictures. To capture that moment when you realize you've been holding your breath and your heart and everything else just stops moving. I never feel closer to my Creator than at these moments of sensory overload. The sights, sounds, and smells of the backcountry or even by the side of the road can be captured in 1/250th of a second at f-11 and I can share this moment of my life with the world.
