2017 Wildlife Photo Contest

Vicuña, Area de Conservacion Regional Choquequireo , Peru
Grazing vicuña

Species: Vicuña | Location: Area de Conservacion Regional Choquequireo , Peru

While trekking in the Andes of Peru, I saw this little fella and snapped a photo. Vicuñas are sleek and delicate creatures with incredibly soft wool. Hunting them was unrestricted for hundreds of years, and they were declared endangered in 1974. Luckily. through the work of conservation efforts, vicuñas have luckily started to rebound in the wild, and I was lucky enough to see one on my trip!

About The Photographer

It's rather hard for me to go very long without taking a picture. Nature astounds me every day. It's bold, bright, and beautiful. The opportunity not only to see, but to take photos of animals in their natural habits makes me eternally grateful (no matter how cheesy that sounds!). My camera and I have gone places, and someday, I hope to go bigger and brighter. I hope you enjoy my photos!
