2017 Wildlife Photo Contest

Cheetah

Species: Cheetah | Location: Near Planesburg National Wildlife Reserve., South Africa

This photo was taken at an organization in South Africa that adopts and raises orphan Cheetah cubs. Cheetahs are an endangered species in South Africa because larger cats like leopards and lions steal their prey and often kill them. This organization uses Cheetahs as "ambassadors" to help them raise funds. For a donation, you can pet a Cheetah. Their fur is very soft and thick, and they purr like house cats.

I took this photo when the animal stood on a rock. His name is Jacob. The background was very intrusive (a fence with a white truck showing through the spaces), so I blurred it and changed the color in Photoshop.
