Species: loon | Location: lake Baptiste near Bancroft, Ontario, Canada
Was canoeing out on Lake Baptiste Ontario in the morning with my boyfriend and we spotted some loons and paddled around with them for a bit, keeping our distance so as not to bother them. They seemed fine with us around so we got to observe them for a while which was great. At one point there were half a dozen of them around us while we sat as still as possible, an amazing experience! I caught this shot just as one of them sat up in the water and flapped its wings, was so happy to have captured it. Its my favourite bird to see up north, and love their calls at night : )
