Species: hippocampus denise pygmy seahorse | Location: Raja Ampat, Indonesia

One of the smallest critters on everyone's list, the hippocampus denise pygmy seahorse is just over 1cm long and perfectly camouflaged to live in its home seafan. To add scale to the photo, my little finder nail is below and a 1/4" diameter pointer can be seen behind the fan.

Since getting certified for SCUBA in 1986, I've been taking underwater photos as a hobby. I also use them to teach, as I'm adjunct faculty at Temple University where I've taught SCUBA and Skin Diving for over 20 years.
