2017 Wildlife Photo Contest

Grizzly Bear, Orford River, British Columbia, Canada
Bear Hug

Species: Grizzly Bear | Location: Orford River, British Columbia, Canada

This young Grizzly was chased off by his 2 sisters so decided to go off and entertain himself. He was in hot pursuit of anything that moved running up & down the river just being a kid.

I felt bad for this guy who was doing his best but coming up empty time and time again... Finally he struck the jackpot, the mother load, the triple sevens. Now he wasn't sure what to do with it so held on for dear life while spinning in the water with his lunker before sinking his teeth in.

Without the backstory this is a Grizzly Bear literally hugging a fish, it will take a miracle to see anything like it again.

The wonderful thing I love about wildlife photography is a still frame captures a moment in time, just you and the subject nothing else. The "I saw that" effect takes over and you relive the experience just by looking at the photo. Pure magic regardless of the subject.
