Species: Lion and Wildebeest | Location: Mara River, Maasai Mara National Reserve, Kenya
During a large crossing of wildebeest across the Mara river during the annual mass migration, this hungry lioness appeared on the bank unnoticed by the herd. As she made her move to secure what seemed to be an easy meal, she was quickly overwhelmed by the amount of wildebeest surrounding her. She wisely chose to scramble out of the way and up the bank safely away from the trampling hooves of the frenzied wildebeest running for their own lives. The lioness circled back around for a second attempt which was as unsuccessful as the first before moving away to find easier prey to hunt.
