Species: Heron | Location: Swan Lake, Victoria BC, Canada
By Brian Liska
While on one of my weekly walks through Swan Lake Nature Sanctuary, this heron came creeping out of the thick brush and posed perfectly next to the glass calm water for me to snap this shot.
About The Photographer
I have been trying to get better at wildlife photography since I picked up my first serious camera for Christmas 2015. Here in beautiful Victoria, British Columbia we are fortunate to have so many great hiking areas and deep forests that wildlife is very abundant and fairly accustomed to humans being nearby.
I currently shoot with a very well loved Nikon d800 and a d7100 for a little extra speed and reach. They are usually paired with the 70 - 300mm f4.5-5.6 vr1 and my current favourite the voigtlander 58mm f1.4.
