Snowy Owl, Ottawa, Canada
Snowy in Flight!

Species: Snowy Owl | Location: Ottawa, Canada

I Was scouting this female snowy for about cold days in Ottawa in hope to get a shot of her in flight. My 500 F4 had fogged up the night before. Extremely depressed, I decided to go in to the field with my old 300 F4 (had it as a back up just in case) on my last day in Ottawa. Chased this one all day long for in flight shot but could not (got a bunch of distant shots though). And then it happened!! She suddenly flew almost towards me, passed may be about 10 feet from me. Thrilled/nervous, I kept shooting as I luckily had my camera pointed in her direction to begin with. And so this shot happened. I turned around to see what had happened, where did she go, only to realize that she had flown straight to another snowy far back behing me, threatening the other one to leave her "territory"!!! Thanks to the other snowy!! What a thrill!! I guess perseverance and preperation do pay off in addition to LUCK!!!

About The Photographer

Nature has been my inspiration for as long as I can remember. For the last 10 years, I have been trying to freeze it in frame. Have I succeeded in capturing what I saw? Not at all. But have I frozen a trace of that scene in my imagery? I would hope so. I shall keep trying. The world is just so beautiful. We can not afford to lose it's beauty!
