Alaskan Brown Bears, Katmai National Park, Brooks Lodge, United States of America
Keeping up with Mom.

Species: Alaskan Brown Bears | Location: Katmai National Park, Brooks Lodge, United States of America

This photo was taken along the Brooks River in Katmai National Park. My brother and I decided to put on waders and wade up the river to get a different perspective of pictures and not be up high on a Platform. The sow and cubs where moving down the river along the bank so we retreated up a stream to allow them room to pass by. As we waited I decided to snap some pictures as the crossed the stream. I really like how the branches frame them. Just wished the branches in front of them where not there but that is nature photography. This was these cubs Second fall in Katmai. There Mom is pretty famous also. She is known as bear 402. A few years earlier she came into estrus and abandoned her only surviving cub a few years earlier. This cub alone and on its own was miraculously adopted by another bear who had only one cub. To add to this story the cub that belonged to the adopted Mom was seen following these two around all season. What a soap opera.
