After successfully catching a salmon in the pool below Brooks Falls a brown bear must defend his meal from a nearby competitor. We were lucky to be at the Brooks Falls at the peak moment of a salmon run. Amid the swirl of fish and bears, two large males contested the salmon that one had caught. After a bit of tussle that was more noise and splashing than real combat, the first angler kept his dinner.
About The Photographer
After decades of travel and landscape photography using film equipment, I was introduced to digital SLR technology during a winter photography safari to Yellowstone in 2006. Digital techniques rejuvenated my photographic enthusiasm. Nature, wildlife, and landscape remain my principal subjects, with occasional forays into architectural and macro photography.
