Species: two-toed sloth | Location: Tortuguerro, Costa Rica
By Mary Gunther
This sloth was in a tree high above the lodge we were staying in Tortugeurro, Costa Rica. Although the animal was quite far away they seemed to be smiling down at us.
About The Photographer
I am very fond of taking photos whenever I go anywhere - particularly of animals. I am an adjunct instructor at Salisbury University in Maryland. I am fortunate to teach a course every spring on the History of Zoological Institutions which has a field trip to the National Zoo. I also teach a course in Costa Rica on biodiversity and ecotourism during the winter term. I always have a camera in hand for these events .I describe myself as knowing just enough about photography to be dangerous but not really know what I am doing!
