Species: Golden Monkey | Location: Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda
At Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda, the golden monkey is one of the lesser known protected animals besides the mountain gorillas and forest elephant. Here we are visiting a troop that is habituated to humans. We observed the troop as they foraged for food in the mud. After watching quite a while, we noticed some had their babies holding on very tightly from underneath them. It was such a treat to watch the curious little babies peak out and look at us as their mothers went about their business.
