After 3 hours of trekking uphill in mud, we met this mountain gorilla mother and child. They are members of the Isabukuru family and agreed to pose after an early lunch.

About The Photographer

Cropped sms photo 1 of 1
I became interested in photography at the age of 13 after seeing the movie “Blow-Up”. After setting up a dark room at home in a large basement closet I started photographing my neighborhood of Sheepshead Bay and Manhattan Beach in Brooklyn, NY. I was particularly interested in street photography. Most people were very receptive to having a young teenager take their picture. I now concentrate on travel and fine art photography especially out west and in the Lake Tahoe region. I like trying to capture the subtle things that reflect the essence of a person or place. I believe I was drawn to a career in medical imaging from my love of photography as both have obvious visual similarities. After building a beautifuly equipped darkroom (I didn’t anticipate the digital revolution) I switched over to digital imaging in 2006. I must admit though, every now and then I miss the smell of hypo.
