This Impala was just dying to get to the other side of the water. I managed to get three good shots because I was anticipating the action of the jump. With enough shutter speed, and rapid recycle of the camera, I was able to stop the action and get the rest of the group in the background. Imaged on 4 July 2016.

I am retired from careers in Air Force Intelligence and Software Engineering. My wife and I love to travel and we love to photograph wildlife. We have visited all 50 of the United States and have traveled to 5 continents. My goal in retired life is to photograph as many species of birds as possible. I have photographed 316 bird species in the state of Maryland, which recently ranked me 5th in the state. I especially love the challenge of photographing warblers. I shoot a Nikon D810s and my best lens is the Nikon 500mm f/4.0 VR. The 500mm is quickly becoming my photographic weapon of choice for distant wildlife, and it qualifies for its own passport.
