Lion, Etosha National Park, Namibia
Hear Me Roar!

Species: Lion | Location: Etosha National Park, Namibia

Watching a group of lions in the sun, we laughed at the cubs playing with each other and with a large frog one had caught. After a fair amount of tusseling, all but this little guy settled down for a rest. He seemed to be asserting himself, including by exercising his vocal cords. Everyone else, including what looked like his mother, was resting but this guy was not. Or, was he simply yawning as a prelude to a nap? Regardless, he and his friends and siblings were so fun to watch. And, he makes me laugh.

About The Photographer

Yvonne Hunter has been taking photographs since she was six when she received her first point and shoot film camera from her father. "Tell a story with your pictures," her father always advised. Now retired, Yvonne has more time to practice telling stories. She loves travel and embraces the magic of capturing images, whether they be of animals or people in Africa, or, birds and people closer to home. Yvonne continues to experience the magic, exhilaration and joy of photography; her father's advice remains a constant principle.
