One of my favorite stops on a cruise through Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia was Komodo Island. After hiking through the forest in Komodo National Park in 95 degree heat and 90 percent humidity, we came upon a group of males around a water hole. This guy was probably 7-8 feet long and like the other dragons in the area, he had the run of the place. The rangers had pointed sticks for the only protection and we (sort of) joked that the sticks were to poke tourists who were foolish enough to get in the way of these beasts...

I've been a photographer for over 30 years and after retiring in 2013 I have been fortunate to travel throughout the world shooting wildlife photos. I've been to all seven continents and have particularly enjoyed Africa, Komodo Island and Alaska.
