Species: Anna's hummingbird | Location: At home in Green Valley, AZ, United States of America
This Anna’s hummingbird built her nest in a bush located just outside a window at our home in Green Valley, Arizona, about 30 miles south of Tucson. This is not the first hummingbird to nest in our yard, but it is the first to locate so conveniently for photography. I was able to observe and photograph the birds from egg to hatch to fledging. The mother followed a routine of returning to the nest about every 20 minutes to feed the nestlings. Neither she nor the nestling paid the least bit of attention to me, so I was pleased to get some good images without interfering with their development.
