Let's Play Keep-Away

Species: Cheetah | Location: South of Serengeti National Park, Tanzania, United Republic of

My wife and I and another couple were on a private safari in Tanzania in late January/early February of 2013. At the time the photo was taken we were in an area south of the Serengeti National Park where it was possible to drive off-road. With the annual migration having arrived in the area and many zebras, wildebeests, etc. having had their young the area was full of both lions and cheetahs looking to take advantage of the situation. The morning this photo was taken we saw a total of 16 Cheetahs and these were not the same cheetahs as in another photo I submitted. In this particular case momma had killed a small antelope and given it to the kids for breakfast and was off hunting again. While we watched the young cheetahs finished their meal and then started playing with the head of the antelope. Just like human kids they were playing keep-away and having a great time.
