On an Autumn morning in Katmai National Park, a 900lb Alaskan Brown Bear wishfully drools over the salmon moving upstream. Katmai is most famous for its images of bears catching fish at Brooks Falls, but I wanted to capture the salmon frenzy in a different way. To make this image (with the help of an expert bear guide), I lied down in the grass where the bear was no longer visible and I used manual focus to keep the focus from being fooled by the swaying grasses.
