Toque Macaque (at least I think so!), Dambulla Cave Temple, Sri Lanka
Sri Lankan Macaques with Baby

Species: Toque Macaque (at least I think so!) | Location: Dambulla Cave Temple, Sri Lanka

If you visit any temple site in Sri Lanka, you are bound to encounter many Macaques, and the famous and amazing Dambulla Cave Temple is no exception. On the steep uphill climb to the cave, we encountered many Macaques, but this particular group caught my eye as they appeared very serene, unlike the others, which were very active. Upon closer examination, I could see the very tiny hand of a baby sticking out between the embraced pair as they sheltered it. The look on the face of the Macaque on the right, staring upward at something I could not discern, added to the innocence and beauty of the scene. I was able to capture some additional photos of the baby, which was incredibly tiny and absolutely adorable!
