Polar Bear, High Arctic, Norway
Polar Bear Leaping the Ice Flow

Species: Polar Bear | Location: High Arctic, Norway

I was traveling with a group of photographers in the High Arctic searching for polar bears. For several days we traversed the icy waters trying to find the elusive bears.

Finally, we hit the jackpot and found 13 over the course of two days. We were able to sit and photograph the bear's activity for extended periods of time. On this particular day the bear, having just eaten the entrails of a seal, was on the move across the ice. I followed him closely and was able to catch him as he began his jump over the water to a nearby shelf of ice.
