2017 Wildlife Photo Contest

Giraffe, Gomoti, Botswana
Neck and Neck

Species: Giraffe | Location: Gomoti, Botswana

Mating season and young giraffes deciding who gets to greet the females. We watched these two giraffes battling it out in a typical fashion for giraffes, which is to strike each other with their horns via swing the neck for leverage. Sometimes they injure one another, a common case in nature when mating clashes are on-going. Just prior to this incident we saw an injured giraffe with a crooked neck. They are a chiropractor's dream.
