Looking for a meal

Species: Yellow Eyelash Pit Viper | Location: Sarapiqui, Costa Rica

The yellow eyelash pit viper is a venomous snake that lives in Central America as well as the northern part of South America. They are arboreal - living in trees and bushes - and never far from a water source. Their name comes from the modified scales above each eye that resemble eyelashes. Ranging in length from 18-30", they are known to feed on small mammals, lizards, frogs, and even hovering hummingbirds.
