There have been many yellow-bellied sapsuckers in our area this spring, pecking rings of holes in the birch trees to get the sap flowing.

Hugh Fraser is a retired educator who lives with his wife, Penny, at Setting Lake, Manitoba. He took up photography as a retirement project, and the pursuit of the perfect image has become his passion. Raised in mineral exploration camps, and having spent over fifty years in the Thompson area, his deeply rooted love of Northern Manitoba is evident in his work.
