Lion, Serengeti National Park, Tanzania
Nap Time

Species: Lion | Location: Serengeti National Park, Tanzania

While on a recent safari in Tanzania, we were able to get many special, one on one moments with animals at very close distances. We were in the western part of the Serengeti to view the start of the Great Migration and happened to come across two lions up in a tree with eight 6 month old cubs with them under the tree in shade. We spent 20 minutes with them and were the only people there. The cubs and adults napped most of the time so we felt we weren't disturbing them by being there and quietly enjoying the moment. As we pulled around the tree, I got this shot of one of the lions sleeping up high in the tree. She is beautiful!
