Species: Sharp-shinned Hawk | Location: Clinton, MD, backyard, United States
I was in the kitchen at home and looked out the window and saw this hawk. I ran upstairs got my camera and while adjusting the camera settings on the way down the stairs, I realized I did not have a memory card in the camera, so I ran back upstairs (all the time saying to myself, please still be there). I got back down stairs and peaked out the kitchen window and the hawk was still sitting there, so I eased out the kitchen door onto the screen porch, where I had to very slowly open a creaky screen door (stopping everytime the hawk turned my way). I put the camera to my eye and eased around the screened porch and snapped this image (only got 2) and he took off. This time I was sneakier than the hawk.
About The Photographer
I've been a nature boy ever since I can remember. As a kid, I was always exploring the woods, creeks and streams in the neighborhoods. It never dawned on me as a kid to photograph the things I saw and found while on my explorations. Fast forward to my adulthood when I found an interest in photography and it was a perfect combination - nature and photography. Now, I'm just a older kid (nature boy) on my explorations making images of nature and having tons of fun.
I just love being one with nature where I feel free and relaxed and can get away from the two-legged animals and all the hustle and bustle of city life.
