2016 Wildlife Photo Contest

Dickcissel, Diamond Grove Prairie, United States
Life on Diamond Grove Prairie

Species: Dickcissel | Location: Diamond Grove Prairie, United States

This photo was taken at a little prairie tucked away in Southwest Missouri. Diamond Grove Prairie Conservation Area is one of the few tracts of tallgrass prairies left in Missouri. Every trip seems to present different flowers and wildlife, such as the Dickcissel in this picture. To me, their song is a nostalgic reminder of summers past and the little bird is a favorite of mine to watch for.
