Species: Zanzibar red colobus | Location: Jozani National Forest, Zanzibar, Tanzania

While the rest of her friends socialized and tended squirming babies in the branches below, this Zanzibar red colobus climbed to a leafy hideaway for a much-needed nap. Her tribe is among Africa's rarest primates -- the species has a population of only 1,000, and they all live in this single, remote, island forest. Responsible tourism initiatives fuel conservation efforts.
