Species: Leopard | Location: Okavanga Delta, Botswana
I brought family and friends to Botswana. We all had an an incredible trip. Their last night I asked my friend and guide Benson, 'is there anything they haven't seen on this trip?' He replied, 'a sunrise'. There was much groaning for it meant a early wake-up call for all. "what will we see?" they moaned… "You never know" he replied. And there huddled together in an open range rover, freezing off our body parts in the dark pre-dawn, was a leopard, curled in a dead tree. In front of her as the sun came up slowly illuminating each one of her spots in a fuzzy furry warm glow were three hyenas that ran past to her right. Later a few warthogs scuttled off to her left. She sat taking it all in. Then as the sun was a little higher, she slowly got up, as if she had just finished her coffee and the morning paper, and got ready for her day.
