Sandhill crane, Ewing, Indiana, USA
Crane Dance

Species: Sandhill crane | Location: Ewing, Indiana, USA

The sandhill cranes migrate annually through Indiana and Kentucky, on their way to warmer wintering grounds. Several of my weekends every year are spent on the backroads photographing from my car, which serves as a perfect traveling bird blind. This couple seemed rather caught up in their courtship dance, as they leapt and bowed to each other amid the snowy farm field.
