Lion, Okavango Delta, Botswana
Okavango Lion

Species: Lion | Location: Okavango Delta, Botswana

A male lion walks through the floodplains of the okavango delta in Botswana. Lions in the delta have adapted to life in the wetlands. Stalking, hunting, and swimming have all become synonymous for these cats.

I often find trouble when writing bios such as these because I find it difficult to express my true love for nature and photography. After giving it careful thought, I came to the revelation that what I want people to know about myself is quite simple: I'm just an ordinary kid who has been given some extraordinary opportunities.

I always say that I have been blessed because I was able to find my passion in life at such a young age. You see, I have been fortunate enough to have travelled to some of the wildest places on Earth. From Africa, to Costa Rica, to the Galapagos Islands, I can't emphasize just how lucky I am. But, and I can't be more sincere when I say this, luck means nothing. One can go on all of these amazing trips and experience all of these amazing activites, but for what? It was not until I was on a helicopter, flying over the Okavango Delta, that I realized the true purpose of my photography. In fact, the photography was a mere tool in my overall goal: to use my experiences to impart knowledge of the current

state of the natural world to the general populace.

You see, we are currently losing wildlife at an unsustainable rate. Due to poaching, it is extremely plausible to say that, in 20 years, there may be no elephants or rhinos roaming this planet. It is quite possible that our children will only read of lions and cheetah in their history books. It is time for this to stop. Each of the adventures that I go on is another learning opporunity; it is just another path for me to make a difference on this Earth.
