Species: Polar Bear | Location: Churchill - tundra, Canada
This was on a Natural Habitat Churchill Polar Bear trip. This female (according to our guide) was walking across a large area of ice when she stopped along the edge and decided to have a little snack. I love this photo because first, it makes me laugh, but also because it demonstrates the rich contrast of colors you see on the tundra (a surprise to me!). I did a lot of research before the trip about suggested camera settings while photographing polar bears against white backdrops only to realize how varied the tundra landscape is!
About The Photographer
I love exploring wildlife both first hand and through photography! Photography is a hobby of mine that I enjoy at home and while traveling, and some of my most memorable travel experiences have involved wildlife viewing. I can't wait to keep exploring and improving my [limited] photography skills and what better subject than wildlife and nature! “If we kill off the wild, then we are killing a part of our souls.” ' Jane Goodall
