2016 Wildlife Photo Contest

African Lion, Beho Beho Safari Camp, Selous Game Reserve, Tanzania, Tanzania
Lovers' Quarrel

Species: African Lion | Location: Beho Beho Safari Camp, Selous Game Reserve, Tanzania, Tanzania

While on an early-morning game drive out of Beho Beho Camp, in search of the elusive Wild Dogs, we came across this pair of lions involved in their lengthy mating ritual, one that could extend for up to a couple of weeks. While their focus was obviously on each other, rather than on our surprisingly-close proximity, there must have been some issue of consternation which caused this momentary interruption of quarrelsome expression!

About The Photographer

As a photography enthusiast, capturing images of the world around me has almost always been a strong interest. Almost 40 years ago, I especially became enthralled with the essence of photography after viewing presentations where other local photography enthusiasts displayed the wonders of the natural landscape and wildlife world that surrounds us. The adoption of the realm of digital photography in 2004 has, like it has for countless others, exploded the opportunities to pursue this form of artistic medium. More so now, in my retirement years, having the opportunity to travel more, I've also found photography to be an excellent medium to chronicle the places my wife and I have traveled to, revealing, in addition to local cultures, the presence of unique geographic features and wildlife diversity. These collections of photographic insights have served us well, as we are now able to most-willingly offer complementary presentations on our journey experiences to varied locations around the globe, allowing others to visit these places along with us, even if only doing so vicariously.
