South Georgia Sunrise
Species: gentoo penguins | Location: Gold Harbor, South Georgia, South Georgia
We went ashore long before sunrise. We carefully picked our way onshore amidst hundreds of penguins, sea lions and fur seals. The beach was very quiet with not much happening. I settled in and waited. As the sun came up, the noise and activity level increased dramatically. I took this shot of a group gentoo penguins making there way to the water as the sun came up.
