Species: Gentoo Penguin | Location: Damoy Island, Antarctica
This penguin had isolated himself a little from the surrounding nesting group. After watching the penguins for a little while, I was learning better to anticipate when they were about to jump from rock to rock. Since they really do more of a "plop" then a jump, by the time they start to jump, there is not enough time to take a photo. For this shot, I started shooting as soon as I sensed he was about to jump and was lucky enough to capture him gracefully mid air alone with the perfect backdrop behind him.
