Species: Red Fox | Location: Park County, Colorado, United States
After a bitterly cold snowstorm I went to check on the fox den that I follow. With the early morning sun I knew there was a chance the vixen would be warming up in the sunshine. As I thought, she was curled up sleeping outside the den. As I was taking pictures of her, one of her daughters born the previous spring popped up behind her. I knew something fun was about to happen, as this youngster was always full of mischief. I saw her crouch and launch herself toward her unsuspecting mother. It was a moment of fun that I was so happy to have the chance to witness. The 10 degree F cold was forgotten as I lost myself in the moment.
About The Photographer
As a retired elementary school teacher, I am enjoying the opportunity to explore my passion for photography and travel. My first love in photography is wildlife. Living in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado I am surrounded by abundant wildlife. My husband and I travel extensively through the state of Colorado. A few of our favorite spots include Rocky Mountain National Park, the summit of Mount Evans, numerous state parks and National Wildlife Refuges, and the eastern plains. We also enjoy traveling across our beautiful country and have been from coast to coast in search of new adventures. I shoot with a Canon 7D Mark II, Canon 100-400 mm IS, and sometimes use a Canon 1.4 x TC.
