Species: American Bison | Location: Yellowstone National Park, United States
Before our trip to the Tetons and Yellowstone in 2014, I had never seen a wild bison. However, wild bison are so common in these places (particularly Yellowstone) that each sighting had less and less of an 'awe' factor. This one, in particular, was striking to me, though. The boiling, muddy, certainly toxic water (represented by the barren banks) seemed less than inviting, but it seemed perfectly comfortable and content to be relaxing in the midst. Life in the extremes.
