Caspian Tern, Everett Washington 10th Street Boat Harbor, United States
Caspian Chase

Species: Caspian Tern | Location: Everett Washington 10th Street Boat Harbor, United States

One of my favorite summer photo spots is the Everett Washington Boat Harbor .... where we have one of the largest colonies of nesting Double-crested Cormorants, Osprey and Caspian Terns [our country's largest terns]. There is constant fishing as the tides roll in and out, and birds chasing each other or other birds.... i.e.. eagles chasing osprey and the reverse, Caspian Terns chasing osprey and eagles etc. The Caspian tern is one of the most acrobatic and graceful seabird I have ever witnessed .... as it fishes, dives underwater and catches fish in its been, shakes the water off in mid air contorting its body, and skims its been in the water at full speed to clean it after consuming its prey.
