2016 Wildlife Photo Contest

lion, Serengeti National Park, Tanzania
"Herding Cats"

Species: lion | Location: Serengeti National Park, Tanzania

While in the Serengeti, we stumbled upon two lionesses that were sharing mothering duties of two sets of cubs. This shot was taken in a dry river bed, just before feeding time. The cubs were obviously very excited to see their respective mom who had left them in a nearby kobi while they went out and hunted. The cubs were running after the lionesses hopeful that they'd stop for a moment in order to nurse.
