2016 Wildlife Photo Contest

Coatamundi, Cancun, Mexico
Coatimundi baby

Species: Coatamundi | Location: Cancun, Mexico

In Mexico I went to view a little unknown ruin. As I was taking pictures of the ruins I heard this rustling in the trees above, I looked up and there was a family of coatamundis just looking at me. This little guy was just as interested in me as I of him. After taking many photos of this little guy he ran off with his family looking back to see if I was following, I tried but they went to far into the brush. Coatamundis are considered Mexican raccoons but are very inquisitive and not shy.

About The Photographer

I love to travel and I love to photograph the things around me. Things that most people don't see even though they are looking at them. Wildlife is my passion, whether it be in my back yard or in a Mexican jungle. I find it fascinating to capture an animal in its natural habitat. My photographs have appeared in a History Channel documentary as well as several magazines and books.
