Grizzly Bear and Salmon, Alaska - Brooks River Falls, USA
Gone Fishin'

Species: Grizzly Bear and Salmon | Location: Alaska - Brooks River Falls, USA

I had seen images of bears catching fish in photo galleries and always marveled at the image. I imagined the photographer spending days and days waiting in the cold and the rain and the mosquitos until he got SO lucky and was able to capture the split second when a hungry Grizzly was able to catch a fish. That fantasy was destroyed at Brooks River Falls. If you go to Brooks River Falls and have a camera and your fingers are not broken (meaning you can press the shutter release) - you can get that image!! It was crazy! The bears were incredible - they showed such skill and patience and resolve! But, every bear was well fed. Apparently - they know how to catch fish and they will do it all day long. Just show up with a camera and at least one working finger and you can capture that image!
