Species: Whitetail Deer | Location: Baxter State Park, Maine, United States
On a warm July Morning I was riding down a winding back road in North-Central Maine with a friend. As we drove around a bend we saw a Whitetail Doe and her Fawn in the distance. They were slowly trotting down the road, we slowed our vehicle and kept a distance of a couple hundred feet in an effort not to frighten them. They seemed relatively uninterested with us, the mother occasionally glanced back, and the fawn seemed focused on keeping pace with its mother. Eventually the two came to a stop, as the mother took interest in some vegetation on the side of the road. I realized this was my chance to capture an image, my friend slowly drove closer then pulled over. I cautiously got out of the car and began to take photos. They were still uninterested in me, I could barely get them to look my way and began to think that I may leave this encounter empty handed. Soon enough they were ready to hit the road again, just before their departure they're curiosity was finally peaked, as they looked back at my lens and allowed me to capture this image.
