Elephant Seal, Kings Range Conservation Area, Lost Coast Trail, United States
Sleeping Elephant Seal

Species: Elephant Seal | Location: Kings Range Conservation Area, Lost Coast Trail, United States

A lone sleeping Elephant Seal taken while thru-hiking The Lost Coast Trail in Northern California, a 25 mile stretch of near pristine coastline. The herd she comes from is the newest addition to the trail and now the northernmost Elephant Seal herd in the country. While exciting, the appearance of this herd on the trail may be due to human caused climate change as the coastal waters become warmer.
