Wildebeest, Serengeti National Park, Tanzania
The Migration Goes Impressionistic

Species: Wildebeest | Location: Serengeti National Park, Tanzania

The wildebeest migration in Africa is an amazing site and awesome to experience . It is common to see thousands and thousands of wildebeest stretching into the horizon as far as the eye can see. While on safari in Tanzania we were treated to this spectacular site, as the migration was delayed a month or so due to late rains. One day, it seemed like the animals were part of a moving impressionist painting, thanks in part to the dust. To capture the movement and the impressionistic sense of the scene I intentionally used a slower shutter speed. This image comes close, but missing are the heat, smell, dust, and complete joy one feels at the moment.

About The Photographer

Yvonne Hunter has been taking photographs since she was six when she received her first point and shoot film camera from her father. "Tell a story with your pictures," her father always advised. Now retired, Yvonne has more time to practice telling stories. She loves travel and embraces the magic of capturing images, whether they be of animals or people in Africa, or, birds and people closer to home. Yvonne continues to experience the magic, exhilaration and joy of photography; her father's advice remains a constant principle.
