Joyce Ferder Rankin LRPS was born and raised in Philadelphia and began her career there in 1976 at the age of 17 at a local television station. She went on to become an award-winning journalist working for many of the world’s top broadcasters including BBC, CBS, ITN , Australian Broadcasting and La Cinq (French TV) to name but a few.
Joyce’s assignments included the Falklands War, the Persian Gulf War and the Bosnian War. She was also one of the few women at the time, to work as a cameraperson and video editor covering the world’s hotspots.
For the last 5 years Joyce has been traveling to Antarctica and the Arctic documenting the effects of climate change on wildlife. She has recently had the honor of a one woman exhibition and just published a book called DEGREESº both of which highlight the beauty of our planet that is fast being lost to climate change.
Joyce’s many awards include 2 Emmys including one for her coverage of the assassination of Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and another for a program about bombing of the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
Her photographs have been published in National Geographic and other publications worldwide. She has recently been awarded a
Licentiate distinction by the Royal Photographic Society.
