Hunting

Species: Burrowing Owl (Athene cunicularia). | Location: Imperial Valley, CA - Sony Bono NWR., USA

Male and female Burrowing Owls take turn to hunt and bring food back to the nest for the owlets. They tend to take turn so at least one adult acts as a sentry. In this image, the female hunts successfully and brings back a cricket for the owlets. Can you imagine how many crickets are enough to feed 8 owlets for a given day? A lot!

About The Photographer

Cropped lydang

My passion for nature photography started a long while ago. But I hardly found much free time to pursue it since work and raising family always got in the way. Today, I still have my day job but the pressure of raising the children has diminished so every free minutes I have, I spend for my passion.
