Northern muriqui or woolly spider monkey, Augusto Ruschi reserve, Brazil
Mother and infant northern muriqui (woolly spider monkey) Critically endangered

Species: Northern muriqui or woolly spider monkey | Location: Augusto Ruschi reserve, Brazil

There are only an estimated 300-400 of these left on the planet and our group made a significant donation, through our guide Fiona Reid, to the support of the reserve. The troupe was in the trees about 90 feet above us and actively feeding - males showing off their wares, mothers feeding and looking after infants. This infant just clung to her quite calmly as she swung through the branches and they stopped for a rest to provide this charming pose for us! I used a Better Beamer flash extender to cope with the intense backlighting from the sky and capture the infant's mail.
